Upcoming fashion related events for your calendar

My co-blogger already told you about the seemingly fabulous first Friday event that will be taking place at Reward in old city. Here are some other fashion related events that are happening this weekend.. and next… so you can properly prepare yourself.

Stop by Sugarcube on Friday between 12-8 to take part in the special event of Sugarcube and Bus Stop combining their forces. Complete head to toe goodness. There will be a selection of men’s and women’s shoes from Bus Stop available at Sugarcube for one night.

I won’t do a write up.. just read the previous entry!

Saturday, May 8th

Younglove’s GRAND OPENING party (5-10pm)
5011 Baltimore Ave. | West Philadelphia

Celebrate the grand re-opening of Younglove’s in West Philadelphia. There will be vintage clothes, records new and old and musical equipment for sale… along with festivities that include BBQing, Drinks and Performances by U.S. Girls, Serpents of W.I.S.D.O.M. and Akasha Blade. There will also be some special DJ’s spinning good stuff for your ears. This already sounds like a lot… but no. There’s more! Photography by Molly Landergan will be displayed. Sounds like a great afternoon/evening of music, shopping and fun to me.

2nd Saturday Celebrations at Sweet Jane ft. Canoe Crafts (6-10 pm)
1742 E Passyunk Ave | South Philadelphia

As part of the monthly celebrations of 2nd Saturday on Passyunk Ave. Sweet Jane will be featuring a line of locally made jewelry by Canoe Crafts. The current line features items made with leather scraps, found items, beadwork and semi-precious stones. As always there will be an assortment of complimentary snacks and beverages.

And..

May 15th & 16th

Fashion Weekend @ The Piazza
2nd St. & Germantown Ave. | Northern Liberties

This event is going to feature 150 designers and boutiques.  Each designer/boutique will have 2 looks to walk down the “piazza runway.” We have no clue what this means, but it could be fun!

Sweet Jane Vintage Trunk Show

The lovely ladies of South Philly hot spot Sweet Jane have organized an event that combines all of our favorite past times. Drinking, listening to good music and shopping.

Stop by Tattooed Mom on South street tonight between 8 p.m. and 12 midnight to enjoy a vintage trunk show featuring vintage goodies from  local Philly sellers including Sweet Jane Vintage & Records, Puss in boots and Youngloves.

$1 PBRs until 11 o’clock… and plenty of great vintage (at affordable prices) to get your mitts on.

If you can’t make it tonight (like me) you can always visit Sweet Jane’s retail store at 1742 East Passyunk Avenue. I look forward to doing a special feature on this awesome boutique in the near future.

Warsaw

Some of you might’ve spotted these good looking tote bags while wandering around Urban Outfitters, but you might not know anything about Warsaw.

Warsaw is a line of bags, jewelry and home goods designed by a Philadelphia resident named Elsa Shadley. Elsa teamed up with screen printing/graphic design sensations Print Liberation to create the Warsaw logo that appears on the popular tote bags and her other products.

Oddly enough I stumbled upon Elsa’s blog after seeing an amazing image somewhere else that credited her. When I clicked on the store link I was overwhelmed with want. Between the jewelry, quilts and hand waxed duffle bags… I was in love.

This beautiful, hand-waxed, handmade duffle is a serious rival for Alexander Wang’s Coco & Rocco Duffles. Utilitarian and feminine all at once. Ridiculously adorable AND practical.

There is something so charming and natural about everything Elsa creates.

Be sure to check out the various goodies on the Warsaw website. There is a great variety of bags, one of a kind jewelry creations and also… be sure to take a look at the blog. Even if you’re not into the bags.. the blog is sure to delight you. I can’t wait to see more from this local designer. I also can’t wait to purchase one of the 10 things I desperately need.
